N. Carolina Hindu Temple’s Prana Pratishta Mahotsava.. Hindu Society of North Carolina Temple in Morrisville (North Carolina) is consecrating murtis of Lord Jagannatha, Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Sudarshana after three-day elaborate rituals concluding on December 20.

Called “Prana Pratishta Mahotsava”, it reportedly includes 32 different worship events; including devotees circumambulating around the Temple carrying pots of water, homams, pujas, mahadeepa lamp burning for all three-days, worship of the soil, offering of milk to deities, bathing of deities through reflection in the mirror, etc. Most of the ceremonies are open to the public.

Meanwhile, distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada today, commended efforts of Temple leaders and area community for installation and consecration of murtis of four additional deities.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that it was important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society and hoped that this Temple would focus in this direction. Zed stressed that instead of running after materialism; we should focus on inner search and realization of self and work towards achieving moksh (liberation), which was the goal of Hinduism.

This Temple, reportedly founded in 1976; opens 365-days a year from eight am to nine pm; performs aarti daily; besides Devi Havan, Hanuman Chalisa recitation, Vishnu Sahasranama, etc., at regular intervals. It offers “Adopt The Temple For The Day” costing $1001, under which special pujas are performed to all deities in sponsor’s name on that day. Temple performs car puja for $25, wedding at the premises for $251, new house puja for $151, etc.

It has a Senior Club; undertakes Hindi, Tamil, Sanskar and Yoga classes; organizes summer camps and runs a youth group called “Om Squad” to “promote a positive outlook on life”. Executive Team for 2016 includes President Manoj Pandya, Vice President Shashi Mallik, Secretary Amar Singh and Treasurer Gopu Seshadri. D. P. Trivedi, Chetmani Rizal and Krushnakant Adhryu perform priestly services.
