Lord Muruga is the beloved deity of everyone, and he is also considered to be the family deity of many Hindus. Among the various incidents happened in the life of Lord Muruga, his marriage held with Ma Valli and Ma Devasena is considered to be a very important one. In order to bring the two Shaktis also known as powers, Icha Shakti and Kriya Shakti under his control, he has got married with Valli and Devasena.
Most of us are thinking that Lord Muruga married his two consorts similar to an ordinary human being, but the very purpose of his marriage is to fulfil the wishes of the two pious goddesses, Ma Valli and Ma Devasena. Both of them were performed severe penance on Lord Muruga in order to get married with the most superior god, Lord Muruga. After marrying with the two divine women, they were merged with Lord Muruga, and they become the permanent Shaktis (Powers) of Lord Muruga.
Lord Muruga is believed to have been married with Ma Valli at Vallimalai Temple, which is situated in Vellore District, and he was married with Ma Devasena, in the Tirupparankundram Temple.
We can sanctify Lord Muruga and his two wives, by performing the marriage ceremony to him in the Vallimalai and Tirupparankundram Temple. By considering Ma Valli and Devasena as our own daughters, we can offer plenty of ornaments and rich garments to them. Since Lord Muruga is the bright bridegroom, we can donate some nice rings in order to put it on the hands of his idol, and instead of offering dowry to the divine bridegroom we can provide free food to innumerable Murugan devotees on the auspicious marriage ceremony day.
Most of the rich parents give lot of dowry and other valuables to the bridegroom as an act of exhibiting their money power. Instead of doing like that, let them show their money power, by the way of doing nice things like performing the grand marriage ceremony of Lord Muruga with his two wives.
Lord Muruga is also considered to be the protector god similar to Lord Vishnu, since Lord Krishna says, “I am the powerful god Muruga”.
People would never get happy with any sort of entertainment activities only by the way of concentrating their attention on doing spiritual activities, they would get permanent peace of mind.
As per the best spiritual quote, “VELAI VANANGUVADE EN VELAI”, I consider that worshipping the spear of Lord Muruga as the most important job. “KANDA KADAVUL ENNAI KAKKUM KADAVAL”, Lord Muruga protects me, “VEL IRUNDAL BAYAMILAI”, if the spear is present before us, then we would never get fear. “SUKKUKKU MINJINA MARUNDUM ILLAI, SUBRAMANIYANAI MINJIYA DEIVAMUM ILLAI”, there cannot be any other medicine better than the dry ginger, likewise there cannot be any other god superior than our Lord Muruga.
Nowadays, most of the so called high class people name their children by using a fancy name, and they are not interested to keep the wonderful name, Murugan to their children, and even if they choose the name Murugan, while naming their children, in course of time, they would shrink that name, and would call as “MURUGES”, by considering that name to be a fancy one. Hindus must come forward to name their children like Murugan, Alagan, Kandan, Kadamban and as Valli, Devasena, Indraputri, Devakumari.
