Mathura Lath Mar Holi

Lath Mar Holi in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh is a special festival for the devotees of Lord Krishna and Radha Rani. The friends of Krishna and Radha rani (gopis & gops) meet together and play Holi festival by chasing each other. Women chase men and beat up with sticks.

The origin of Lathmar Holi dates back to Lord Krishna’s childhood, during Mahabharata period.

After celebrating Lath Mar Holi in Barsana and Nandgaon, devotees in Mathura celebrate the festival. It is usually falls on Rangbhari Ekadasi. Rangbhari Ekadasi is Shukla Paksha Ekadasi in Phalgun Month.
