Margashirsha Mahina or Margashirsha month in North India begins on November 11 in 2011 and ends on 10 December. Mrugashira nakshatra falls during Margashirsha Purnima or Full Moon day in this month; hence it is named as Margashirsha mahina. Margashirsha month is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. Kalabhairvashtami (Mahakal Jayanti) and Datta Jayanti (Margashirsha Purnima) are the important Hindu festivals celebrated in this month.

In Gujarat, Mahrashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka, Margashirsha month 2011 starts on 26 November and ends on December 24, 2011.
