Mandala Pooja celebrated in Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple

Mandala Pooja, the last day of 41-day Mandalam festival, was celebrated with utmost pomp on 27 December 2010 at Sabarimala Ayyappa temple. The temple witnessed huge crowd of devotees from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. During this festival, the idol of the presiding deity was adorned with ‘Thanga Angi’ (golden attire) in the last evening. The adorned idol reached Sabarimala shrine in a ceremonial procession from Sree Parthasarathy Temple at Aranmula.

Mandala Pooja and Kalashabhishekam rituals were performed by ‘Tantri’ Sri Kandarapu Rajeevaru, who was assisted by Sabarimala Devaswom’s ‘Melasanthi’ Ezhikode Sasi Namboodri.

Sabarimala temple will be closed 27th December evening after ‘Athazha Puja’ and reopen on December 30 for Makaravilakku festival. It is note that Makaravilakku date is 14 January 2011.
