Mahananda Navami is observed on ninth day of Shukla Paksha of Magh Month in Hindu Calendar. In 2026, Mahananda Navami date is January 27.
There is no specific ritual is associated with this vrata expect performing ritual bath (Punya Snan) in Holy Rivers such as Ganga, Yamuna, Godavari, Tungabhadra, Cauvery, etc.
Shukla Paksha Navami in Magha Month is also observed as Madhva Navami by Madhva sect of Brahmins.
Mahananda Navami is an year-long Vrata which is divided into 3 parts of 4 months each. In this vrata, Goddess Durga Devi is worshipped with Shodashopachar Pooja. In each period of 4 months, Dhoop, Naivedya and Name of Maa Durga differ.
All the desires of the vrati (performer of this vrata) would be fulfilled with the blessings of Maa Durga. And Vrati attains Brahma Loka ultimately.
