Maha Sashti, Durga Sashti, is the sixth day of Navratri. It marks the beginning of Durga Puja in Bengal. In 2015, Maha Sashti date is October 19.
On Maha Sashti, Durga idol is brought to pandals from the place of idol preparation in Bengal and some other Eastern parts of India where Durga Puja is observed for 4/5 days. Kalparambho, Durga Devi Bodhon, Amantran and Adhibas are performed on Durga Sashti in Bengal.
Goddess Saraswati Pujan is observed as a part of Navadevi Alankarams. Saraswati Puja (Saraswati Avahan / Saraswati Triratra Vrata) begins on Maha Sashti.
Goddess Bhuvaneshwari Maa is worshipped according to Dasamahavidya Puja.
Indrani Puja is observed as part of Saptramatrikas and Ashtamatrikas Puja.
