Located in Rudraprayag district of the state, Madhmaheshwar Temple has the association with the legend dating back to Mahabharata.
Similar to Chardham Temples (Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath), Madhmaheshwar Temple is also opened for 4-6 months in a year. Rest of the year, reaching the temple is so tough due to heavy rainfall and snow fall.
Madhmaheshwar Temple opens in April-May during Akshaya Tritiya and closes during Diwali festival in October-November.
During the winter season, the temple is closed and the symbolic image of the deity is shifted to somewhere else for poojas.
