Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Swami Vivekananda Sharada Mata

Ma Sarada Devi, who was affectionately called by her devotees as Saradamma, Saradamba, and as Sarada mamani, was the holy consort of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. She lived a very simple and a pious life, and she never allowed any type of luxuries in her life. Though she was married with Ramakrishna, but she never enjoyed any sort of sensual pleasures with her own husband, since both of them didn’t like to enjoy any sort of worldly pleasures in their life. We can also worship Ma Sarada Devi by considering her as Sringeri Ma Saradamba, since she is also believed to be a form of Ma Shakti Devi.

But most of the South Indians are not aware about her significance, and they consider her as an ordinary woman with some spiritual powers. Apart from containing good amount of spiritual powers, she also contains wonderful qualities, like softness, generosity, adjustability, tolerance and many more. Though it is not possible to read about her entire life history by everyone, at least, by reading about some of her noble characteristics, the readers could realise that, Ma Saradamma is not an ordinary woman, but a divine woman, containing the characteristics of Ma Shakti Devi.

Some of the details from the life history of Ma SARADA are as follows:

1. When Ramakrishna treated Sarada Devi as an aspect of his beloved goddesses, Ma Kali Devi, and worshipped her by performing puja to her, she didn’t reject his act, but with a smiling face, she has accepted his puja.

2. Sarada Devi didn’t find partiality with anyone, since she considered everyone as the divine aspects of the god.

3. Sarada Devi gave much respect to her consort Bhagavan Ramakrishna and she has obeyed his orders, and treated him similar to the god.

4. Still now, those who chant the name of Ma Sarada Devi, with utmost faith and devotion, from any part of the world, would be protected by Ma Sarada Devi, and she would always follow them like their shadow.

5. Sarada Devi took care of her brother’s daughter for many years in a kind manner, though she was tortured by her brother’s daughter in several ways.

6. For some of her devotees, Sarada Devi has appeared in the form of Ma Kali Devi and blessed them.

7. Due to the grace of Ma Sarada Devi, even some non-believers of god were changed their attitude, and became staunch devotees of Sri Ramakrishna and Ma Sarada.

8. Though Ma Sarada herself was a saintly woman, however, she has greatly respected the Saints like, Adishankara, Ramanuja, Madhwacharya Vyasaraja and Guru Raghavendra, and these details were published in a spiritual magazine before some years ago.

9. Sometimes when some bad natured people used to touch the holy feet of Ma Sarada, she would feel great pain on her feet, however after sometime, she used to apply some oil on her feet, in order to reduce the pain.

10. Sarada Devi has even changed the path of the people who were following the bad life, and inculcated them in the bhakti path.

11. According to the words of Ma Sarada, impossibility can be made into possibility by adopting the path of spirituality.

12. Ma Sarada used to ask her devotees to undergo holy pilgrimages in order to reduce their bad karmas.

13. Ma Sarada used to advise her devotees to concentrate on their routine works also, along with their spiritual work, since she believed that doing hard work is equivalent to worshipping the god.

14. Once when one of her devotees has complained about the difficulty in understanding the meaning of Kali Mantra, Ma Sarada, has advised her to recite the simple Kali Mantra, “OM MA DEVATI DEVI KALI DEVIYE NAMAHA”.

15. Once, when one person who pretends himself to be the devotee of Ma Sarada tried to attack her with a knife, she didn’t make any noise, but appeared before him in the form of a divine lady, and on seeing her divine face, the bad person immediately dropped his knife and fled from that spot.

16. Swami Vivekananda has expressed his feelings about Ma Sarada on one of his works, and he said, that, “while I was seeing the face of Ma Sarada, suddenly I saw the image of a divine young girl child on her place, and this incident was motivated me to worship Ma Kali Devi in the form of a child”.

17. Sarada Devi used to tell to her devotees, “Don’t worry about sufferings, since sufferings cannot be avoided in human’s life, but it can be reduced to a maximum possible extent, by paying our more and more attention on worshipping the god”.

18. While talking about Karmas, Ma Sarada Devi used to tell to her disciples, “While you love to enjoy good karmas in your life, you have to practise yourself to love even your bad karmas, with the help of the god, and with your great withstanding powers”.

19. Love your life by loving others, enjoy your life by giving happiness to others, forget about your past life, and pay more attention to your present life.

20. Suicides are not to be committed by anyone in the world, since our body is the precious gift which was offered by the great Lord “SRI BRAHMA DEVA”.

21. If you get continuous failures on your life, don’t get worried for that, make some more attempts in order to change your failures into success.
