KALIYUGA KADAVULGAL (GODS AND GODDESSES IN THE PRESENT-DAY WORLD)
Hinduism contains innumerable gods (Devas) and goddesses (Devis), often classified as different manifestations, but all comes under one ultimate, and it is formless which is known as Brahman. There are 33 primary types of Vedic gods often cited in Hindu scriptures.
In the present age of Kaliyuga, Hindu Gods and Goddesses are mostly worshipped only in India, while still they are worshipped by other countries but mostly by our Indian people! While most of the Hindus do not comment about the gods of other religions, but still some people who belongs to other religions criticizes our deities! They even question about the very existence of our deities and they consider that all of the deities are purely fictitious, that is, they are only imaginary ones!
While we worship Lord Vinayaka as the first god, some people say, “Do this god really exist, and if he is there, then why do he possess an elephant head, instead of a human’s head”? If Lord Muruga is really a capable god, then why can’t he destroy the army forces of the Demon Surapadma, within a fraction of a second? If the deities have enough power on their body, then why do they possess various weapons such as sword, bow, arrow and mace? If the creator god Brahma is really a good god, then why he creates various classes of people, and then why he makes them into suffer in this difficult world? If Ma Shakti is a merciful mother, then why she keeps quiet when people suffers like anything in this world, why she didn’t control the floods, earthquakes and Tsunami in this world?
They further comment on Ma Shakti who is also called as Amman and Mariamman, and also as Aatha, the divine mother, why she is called by various names, such as Mariyatha, Chellatha and as Ayiram Kannatha! Long back, when I was working in a company, Amman songs were being played in the Loud Speaker in the nearby area, on hearing that, the owner of the company who belonged to other religion, had laughed aloud, and says, does we get relief by calling the divine mother in various names? Does she really protect those who hears these songs? Does she really has one thousand eyes, and if so, then why she didn’t look over her devotees, and why she didn’t remove the troubles and turmoil of her devotees? He tells like this, and also asked me to clarify those things. I have answered in a simple sentence, “Sir, if you go through our divine books, that’s in our Hindu Scriptures, then you would be able to grasp about the entire task of the god.
At the present situation, our deities are in poor condition even in some places in India! Suddenly our temples become demolished with the reason that they are subject to encroachment! Sometimes temples would be destroyed, by saying that they are going to widen the roads, but sometimes only the temples would be destroyed in that area, and all other places like shops and schools would be kept intact!
Some people say, that after Lord Krishna was killed in the hands of hunter, Jara, then why do he was again brought back into life! Like that, they comment on the holy characters of Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bhagavatham. They also further tell, if Ma Annapurani lifts a golden pot on her hands, which contains plenty of food, then why do people still starve out of hunger? If god puts the Karma on our head, then why can’t he put those things on his own head? Is this thing a big partiality?
For those foolish people, there is no need to give explanation, since all of those explanations have been already mentioned in our holy Bhagavat Gita.
Bhagavat Gita tells, “Hey Arjuna don’t consider the acts of those people who are foolish in nature, bad ones would behave only stupidly! Do your duty, ignore those dirty things, by considering your ears as deaf, keep worshipping on me, me and me only, and rest of the things will be taken care of by me”.
Hence let us follow the foot steps of Lord Krishna and let us be always cheerful.
