2 May 2013 is observed as Kalashtami. Also known as Kala Ashtami, Kalashtami falls on Ashtami tithi of Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) of every Hindu month. Kalashtami is an auspicious day for the devotees of Lord Kalabhairava who observe fasting on this day.

It falls in Margashirsha Month as per North Indian Hindi calendars. It coincides with Kartik Month as per Marathi, Kannada, Telugu and Gujarati calendars of Amavasyant Panchang.
