Lord Kalabhairava is an aspect of Lord Shiva, who acts as a guardian god for everyone, and he resides in the Kasi Viswanathar Temple, Kasi, Varanasi, as the guardian god. Lord Kalabhairava was formed out of the powers of Lord Shiva, in order to remove the ego of Lord Brahma, and also to protect his devotees from their troubles and turmoil in their lives.
Dog is the vehicle of Kalabhairava, and those who worship him sincerely, need not worry about dog bites, since dogs would never cause harm to those who are considered to be the staunch devotees of Lord Kalabhairava.
Though dogs are considered as honest and faithful to their masters, but it is very difficult to face the Nuisance of the street dogs. Even though, we walk slowly and silently in the streets, sometimes, some street dogs might run behind us, and used to bark loudly, and sometimes they also would try to bite us. It is also not a wise act to kill the street dogs with sticks or other weapons, since these animals are considered to be the divine vehicle of Lord Kalabhairava. Before a week ago, while I was walking in a lonely street, I have heard the barking of the street dogs, and, during that time, my heart beat rate began to increase, and at that time, I sincerely prayed to Lord Kalabhairava to safeguard me. My prayers were answered, and after barking for some time, dogs left that place, leaving me unharmed. Hence it is a wise act, to offer our prayers to Lord Kalabhairava in order to get rid from enmity problems, from dog bites and also from snake bites.
It is also believed that the departed souls of the noble ones would reach the feet of Lord Kalabhairava. In some Hindu cremation grounds, we could find the statue of Lord Kalabhairava who gives his blessings for the departed souls. If a person dies without having any children, and if he was a devotee of Kalabhairava, then, Lord Kalabhairava himself would act like his son, and he would do the PitruTharpana rituals to his deceased devotee, by considering him as his father. Those who suffer from doshams like Kanya Dosham, Kalasarpa Dosham, Pitru Dosham, Brahmahati Dosham and from Navagraha Dosham are suggested to worship Lord Kalabhairava in order to get rid from their Doshams. Unmarried people and issueless couples can also worship Lord Kalabhairava in order to get their wishes fulfilled soon.
He is the one who destroys fear from the minds of human beings and gives courage, wisdom, knowledge and boldness. By worshipping him, we will be able to face any difficult situations with ease. Bhairava mainly safe guards his sincere devotees from their enemies. He is regarded as the supreme protector of the entire universe.
Once, Lord Brahma has also got five heads similar to Lord Shiva. Due to that he has become pride, and considered himself as the supreme deity. In order to control his pride, Lord Shiva took the form of Kala Bhairava and removed one of Brahma’s heads. Due to the action of Kala Bhairava, Lord Brahma’s ego was controlled and he surrendered at the feet of Kala Bhairava. Kala Bhairava, is said to be safe guarding the Shakti peeths. Since bhairava was created by Lord Shiva, he is also considered as his son. Bhairava usually appears in the standing form with four hands. His vehicle is dog.

Reporter is so misinformed. Praying to kaal bhairav increases your love towards dogs. And a dog will never bite a human he trusts. Reporter has No experience with dogs, sadly.
I don’t agree to furtherance of Dog bite etc. It is an exaggerated writing. May be the writer has his own. Dog in fact is shown as Dharma Devadhai present with him. Many Kala Bhairava temple in the North to say in Delhi is worshipped by offering liquor and non veg items. Normal people buy small leaf caps of sweets at the shop nearby and offer it. They also bring their own house food full plate and offer at the feet of Kala Bhairava. In southern states I didn’t see much worship to show or seen specifically about their offerings.
Kala Bhairava is powerful God. It is especially worshipped and there will be a small temple (just like Vinayagar temple every where ) specifically in areas where labour work and hard work of Iron is done, like transport and metal body works, cars and bus, and in Industrial areas. The laboures get strength from praying to Kala Bhairava at this temples.
Yes I agree. I believe Kala Bhairava protects people and dogs (infact all animals). There’s no other animal in the world like a dog, they are very loyal to their parents/master/pack. We actually started praying to him when our Great Dane got diagnosed with cancer and during her surgery and chemotherapy. We truly believe that he gave us more time with her and when she passed away (on an auspicious day), all the rituals went smoothly. Yes we cremated her and scattered her ashes in holy river.
