Monday is the most auspicious day for worshipping Lord Shiva, and also we can gladly invite Lord Shiva to our homes. We can worship Lord Shiva in Lingam form also by keeping a small Shiva Lingam in our home. But for keeping a Shiva Lingam in our puja room, we have to observe strict cleanliness and our mind must be pure. Mondays are also meant for worshipping Lord Chandra, who is also called as Soma. Along with Shiva, we can worship Lord Chandra also, since he is the one who gives coolness to everybody in the earth through his grace.
Lord Shiva is very kind towards his devotees, and he would be immediately present before the devotees, during their urgent call, and would remove their difficulties. During Mondays, in the temples, special pujas and Abhishekhams would be done to Lord Shiva, and he would be decorated with beautiful flowers and flower garlands. During Mondays, apart from worshipping and performing puja to Shiva, we can also read the life history of the 63 Nayanmars and Shiva Purana and we can chant the Shiva Mantra, “OM NAMAH SHIVAYA”.
Ancient kings were built lot of temples for Lord Shiva, due to their bhakti on the god. At present, since we are unable to visit the temples, we can worship him from our home itself. Similar to the great Nayanmar Saint, Pusalar, we can also build a temple for him in our soul, and we can perform pujas in our mind temple.
If we keep utmost faith and sincerity on Shiva, he would even appear before us by taking a different form, and would bless us. God expects only the true bhakti from us, and nothing more else. Similar to the Nayanmar saints, we have to dedicate our entire attention on Lord Shiva, and our each and every body cell, must chant his holy names and his mantras. At this present situation, without paying attention on the god, it is very difficult to run our lives. Hence let us keep thinking about the great Lord Shiva and be blessed.
