December 13, 2013, Today is Gita Jayanti (Bhagvadgita Jayanti). It is the birth anniversary of Bhagavad Gita, the most sacred and important Hindu scripture.
Gita Jayanti falls on Mokshada Ekadasi, Shukla Paksha Ekadasi in Margashirsha Month.
Bhagvad Gita is one of the most influential literary works till date which also explains about personality development and time management.
Lord Krishna explained knowledge about the birth, living, the duties of life and the death in very informative manner to king Arjuna who wanted to leave the battle field in order escape from killing of his own cousins, fathers and other relatives.
To bring back Arjuna to Kurukshetra war, Lord Krishna has shown his Vishwaroopam and taught him the essence of life with the name of ‘Srimad Bhagavad Gita’.
GIta Jayanti is also celebrated as Gita Jayanti.
