Falharini Kali Puja, also known as Falharini Kalika Puja or Phalaharini Kali Amavasya Puja, is an auspicious vrat dedicated to Goddess Kali or Kalika Debi and observed on Chaturdashi or Amavasya (No Moon day) in Jaishto month in Bengali calendar.
In 2020, Falharini Kali Puja date is May 21. On Falharini Kali Puja day, devotees worship Goddess Kali and offer special pujas and special bhog to please the Goddess. In Bengal, on this day Kali temples and Durga temples are decorated with garlands and lights.
In the year 1873 on this day, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa worshipped Sarada Ma as ‘Tripura Sundari Devi’ (The Divine Mother). To mark the auspicious event, every year, on this day, Phalaharini Kali Puja being performed at every RK Math.
Falaharini Kali Puja falls on Vaishakha Krishna Paksha Chaturdashi or Amavasya as per Amavasyant calendars followed in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. It coincides with Jyeshta Amavasya as per Purnimant calendars followed in North India.
