Chardham Yatra or Char Dham temple tour is the most holy pilgrimage tour to four prominent abodes in Hinduism. In 2023, in fact every year, Chardham Yatra opening dates occur during Akshaya Tritiya.
In 2023, Yamunotri temple opening date is April 22. Gangotri will also open on April 22.
Usually, Kedarnath temple opening date is decided on Maha Shivaratri. And Badrinath temple opening date is decided on Basant Panchami.
The kapat of Shri Kedarnath Temple will open on 25 April 2023.
The kapat of Shri Badarinath Temple will open on 27 April 2023.
Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath temples are popularly known as Chardham temples. Every year tens of thousands of devotees visit the Chardham temples. Visiting all the four temples is considered as Char Dham Yatra. Devotees start booking tickets 3-4 months in advance for Chardham Yatra. Usually Chardham Yatra closing dates occur during Diwali and Bhai Dooj.
The best season to visit Yamunotri, Gangotri, Badrinath, and Kedarnath temples is – May to June and September to October.

It will be great to see snow near all the dhams. After 2-3 weeks all the ice will melt due to heavy crowd of pilgrims.

I have just seen your webpage about Char Dhama etc, Vedic tirthas and
Dhamas. I have a question to you. I would like to make a journey to
Gangotri & Bhadrinath by the end of September.
First of all, how is the climate then, from last week of September
onwards (or in 1st week of October) usually – how warm is it in day
time, and how cold in night time ? Once I travelled there in May, and
although day time was so sunny and warm, nigh time was so freezing
cold, that I had to use three blankets to survive ! Kindly let me
know.
Secondly, how much time it will take to drive from Rishikesh to
Gangotri, and how long to drive from Gangotri to Bhadrinath ? I’m
planning to book a private car (like Tata Sumo).
Thirdly, in case you know any good guest house (in Gangotri & in
Bhadrinath) and their charges, I would be interested to hear of this
also, in both these places. Could I book rooms through you ? Thank you
