Chardham Yatra 2019 begins on May 7, Akshaya Tritiya

Chardham Yatra in 2019 will begin on Akshay Tritiya day (May 7). The government has asked the pilgrims to allocate 10 days for their yatra of four holy temples in Hinduism – Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri in the Garhwal range of Himalayas. Tour to Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri in the Garhwal Himalayas is a highly revered pilgrimage in Hinduism.

Chardham Yatra begins on Akshaya Tritiya every year and continues for six months. During Diwali festival, Chardham Yatra temple portals will be shut down as the area covers with snow and rainfall at that time.

The portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines, situated at a height of 3,200 metre and 3,615 metre respectively in Uttarkashi district, would be reopened on 28 April on the occasion of ‘Akshay Tritiya’ signalling the start of season.

Opening date of Kedarnath temple in 2019 is May 9.

Opening date of Badrinath temple in 2019 is May 10.

Opening date of Gangotri temple in 2019 is May 7.

Opening date of Yamunotri temple in 2019 is May 7.
