Chardham Yatra in 2023 will begin on Akshay Tritiya day (April 22). The government has asked the pilgrims to allocate 10 days for their yatra of four holy temples in Hinduism – Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri in the Garhwal range of Himalayas. Chardham Yatra begins on Akshaya Tritiya every year and continues for six months. During Diwali festival, Chardham Yatra temple portals will be shut down as the area covers with snow and rainfall at that time.
The portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines, situated at a height of 3,200 metre and 3,615 metre respectively in Uttarkashi district, would be reopened on 28 April on the occasion of ‘Akshay Tritiya’ signalling the start of season.
