Once Ma Shakti Devi had incarnated as Parvati, in order to marry with Lord Shiva, and she was adopted by King Parvatha and Ma Mena. After getting permission from her parents, she began to start doing meditation on Lord Shiva, in the holy mountain Himalayas.

At that time, the powerful demon, Tarakasura, began to create lot of disturbances to the Devas, and due to that, all the Devas met Kamadeva and asked him to develop bondage between Shiva and Parvati. Kama also reached the abode of Lord Shiva and shoots an arrow made out of flower. Immediately, Lord Shiva opened his third eye and burns Lord Kama into ashes.

Ma Parvati performed severe penance on Lord Shiva, and due to that, she is called as Brahmacharini. In course of time, Lord Shiva was very much satisfied with her noble acts, and they got married. And after some time, Lord Muruga was born from the third eye spark of Lord Shiva, and he destroyed Tarakasura, and removed the problems of the Devas.
