Brahma Pooja on Ugadi (Brahma Damana Puja)

Lord Brahma

Lord Brahma

Brahma Pooja (Brahma Damana Puja) is one of the auspicious rituals observed on Ugadi (Gudi Padwa – Chaitra Shukla Pratipada). As Ugadi marks the beginning of Hindu calendar, Lord Brahma is offered special worship. In 2020, Brahma Damana Puja date is March 25.

This Ugadi / Gudi Padwa marks the beginning of Sarvari Nama Samvatsara (2020-2021) in Hindu calendar.

After Thaila Abhyanga Snana (taking ceremonial bath), devotees will have ‘Nava Vasthrabharana Dharana’ (wear new clothes and ornaments), and Ugadi special puja. Apart from Lord Brahma, Ganesha, Lakshmi Narayana, Shiva Parvati, Goddess Durga are also worshipped on Ugadi day. Lord Brahma is worshipped with Shodashopachar Pooja and is offered special delicacies as Naivedya.

As it also marks the beginning of Vasant Navratri, Goddess Durga is worshipped in the form of Shailaputri Mata.
