Barsana Holi 2021 (Lathmar Holi’s First day)

Holi festival in Barsana is celebrated as Lathmar Holi. It is also celebrated in Nandgaon and Mathura of Uttar Pradesh. In 2021, Barsana Lathmar Holi date is March 23.

Barsana Holi marks the beginning of Lathmar Holi festival in Mathura region (Sri Krishna Janmabhumi). Thousands of people from across India and various countries visit the place and participate in the colourful event.

During Lathmar Holi, women chase down men with sticks and beat up them. Both men and women sing Holi songs in Braj Bhasha (Vraj language) and fly in colorful mood till evening.

As a part of Barsana Lathmar Holi, men (gopas) from Nandgaon come to Barsana to play Holi with ‘gopis’. Barsana Radha Rani Temple is the main venue where celebration starts and Rang Rangeeli Gali is the place where major part of Lath mar Holi festival is celebrated.

In 2019, Barsana Lathmar Holi date is March 15.

In 2017, Barsana Lathmar Holi date was March 6.

In 2016, Barsana Lathmar Holi date was March 17.

In 2015, Barsana Lathmar Holi date was February 27.

In 2014, Barsana Lathmar Holi date was March 10.

In 2013, Barsana Lathmar Holi date was March 21.
