Sri Aurobindo Ashram is an Ashram which preaches spirituality, and it is located in Puducherry. The ashram was started by Sri Aurobindo in the year 1910, and during the year 1926, Sri Aurobindo had started his spiritual activities in full stretch. He also gave some of his responsibility to his Spiritual friend and disciple, Mirra, who is affectionately called by her devotees as “The Mother”.Her birth name is Mirra Alfassa.
At his Ashram, Sri Aurobindo used to write lot of general and spiritual articles and he had performed deep meditation on the almighty. He controlled his senses, and gained more spiritual energy by regularly worshipping on the almighty. Some of his disciples took care of him properly, and they participated in his spiritual activities.
The Divine Mother eagerly looked after the Ashram, and she treated her disciples as her own children. Her love and affection shown towards her devotees and the general public cannot be explained in words. Most of the followers of the holy Mother, consider her as an incarnation of Ma Shakti Devi, and the people at Pondicherry consider Guru Aurobindo as their spiritual Guru. Both Aurobindo and Annai used to deliver nice teachings and divine lectures at their Ashram, in order to enlighten the people.
At the Aurobindo Ashram, the holy mother used to appear daily at 6:00 am in the morning, on the ashram balcony and would give her immense blessings on the people. In course of time, the Aurobindo ashram began to grew, and more number of people became the followers of Sri Aurobindo and Annai. Today, Pondicherry has become an important tourist spot, due to the spiritual attraction of the Aurobindo Ashram.Every day, thousands of people are visiting this Ashram, in order to get the spiritual bliss.
Sri Aurobindo Ashram publishes lot of works of Sri Aurobindo and Annai in various languages, and apart from the books, the Ashram also publishes journals relating to meditation, yoga and about the spiritual teachings of Annai and Aravindar.
Aurobindo gave great respect to the holy mother, Mirra, and considered her as his disciple and guided her properly. At this present day world, we cannot find such a nice people like Aurobindo and Annai, who have completely left their physical pleasures and worldly attachments, but concentrated their entire attention to inculcate the spirituality in the minds of the people.
Still now, lot of Annai centres are situated throughout the world, and while I was residing at Ayanavaram, I used to visit an Annai centre on Sundays, and attended the divine lectures delivered by the head of the Annai Centre. The centre is situated at Sri Ramanuja Nagar, K.H.Road, Ayanavaram, Opposite to Noor Hotel.
