Today, 26 February 2013 is Attukal Pongala festival in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Attukal Bhagavathy Temple of Thiruvananthapuram becomes the venue for the largest religious congregation of women in the world.
Attukal Bhagavathy Temple in Kerala is one of the ancient temples in South India and is popularly described as the Sabarimala of the Women, as women form the major portion of devotees.
The Attukal Pongal has made its way to the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest religious congregation of women on a single day. In 2013, it is expected that 4 Million devotees (40 lakh) will participate in Attukal Pongala Mahotsavam on 26 February.
