You can have darshan of Kanchipuram Athi Varadar in Reclining Posture (Kidantha Thirukolam, Sleeping Posture, Lying Posture) from 1 July to 31 July 2019. Each day Athi Varadar Swamy is decorated in beautiful silk robes and several flower garlands.
Each day several lakhs of devotees throng Varadharaja Perumala Temple in Kanchipuram to get blessings of Athi Varadar Swamy, who is raised once in 40 years from the temple pond and kept in Mandapam for common devotees to have darshan.
27 July 2019 is 27th day of Darshan Athi Varadar and on 31 July 2019 it is the last day of Darshan of Athi Varadar in Sleeping posture. From August 1, 2019 till 17 August, Athi Varadar Swamy will bless devotees in Standing Posture.
Athi Varadar was raised last time in 1979 and in July 2019 it is raised again. The idol has been in display at Varadaraja Perumal Temple from 1 July to 17 August 2019 (48 days Darshanam). And the next time, Athi Varadar will be raised in 2059.
It is estimated that nearly 10 Million devotees will visit and have darshan of Athi Varadar in 2019.
