Bahuda Yatra or Bahuda Jatra is one of the main events in Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra. It is the return festival of chariots. Bahuda Yatra 2012 date is June 29. Celebrated on the ninth day from Puri Jagnnath Rath Yatra, Bahuda Yatra concludes the festivities of world famous Puri Ratha Yatra.
The chariots of Puri Jagannath, Bhalabhadra, and Subhadra start their return journey to Puri Jagannath temple on ninth day after main Rath Yatra. After staying for nine days in Gundicha temple, chariots or Ratha begin to move to Puri on Bahuda Yatra day.
During Bahuda Yatra, the three ratha visit Mausima temple and deities are offered ‘Poda Pitha’, a sweet recipe. The presiding deity of Mausima temple is the aunt of Lord Jagannath.
