Purnima June 2012 date, Time

Purnima, also spelt as Poornima or Pournami, is the Full Moon day in Hinduism. Purnima June 2012 date is June 4, Monday. June 2012 Purnima is known as Jyeshta Purnima, Full Moon day in Jyeshta month, as per Hindu calendars. It marks the end of Jyeshta month in North Indian lunar calendars and it is the final day in Shukla paksha of Jyeshtha month in Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu and Kannada calendars.

Purnima June 2012 Time is – purnima begins at 8.18 PM on 3 June and ends at 4.42 PM on 4 June 2012.

June 2012 Purnima (Jyeshta Purnima) is celebrated as Jagannath Purnima / Snan Purnima / Devasnana Purnima in Orissa, especially at Puri Jagannath Temple. It is also celebrated as Eruvaka Punnami (Yeruvaka Purnima) in Andhra Pradesh and some parts of Karnataka.

In some areas, it is also celebrated as Krushi Purnima. Vat Savitri Vrat or Vat Purnima Vrat is also observed on Jyeshta Purnima day.

On June 4, 2012 (Jyeshta Purnima), Pakshik Chandra Grahan (Partial Lunar Eclipse) will take place. It will be visible in some areas of South India, Eastern parts of India and North Eastern India (Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, West Bengal, Assam and North Eastern States of India).

    hi . I am residing in East africa (tanzania) and would like to know abou the timings of the “chandra grahan ” or the lunar eclipse on June 4th 2012 . Pl s inform times in GMT as my wife is pregnant and also advise us the precautions to be taken .thks
