Happy Pentecost 2011, Hindus greet Christians

Hindus have sent early greetings to Christian communities world over for upcoming Pentecost, which falls on June 12, 2011. Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a release in Connecticut (USA) today, expressed warmest greetings on the Pentecost, wishing that it brought joy, happiness, blessings and cheer to all.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, stressed that all religions should work together for a just and peaceful world. Dialogue would bring us mutual enrichment, he added.

Christianity is the largest religion of the world, while Hinduism with about one billion adherents, is the oldest and third largest religion. Also known as “Birthday of the Church”, Pentecost is a Christian feast commemorating the descent of Holy Spirit upon the Disciples of Christ after the Resurrection. Its celebrations/observances include festive meals, processions, prayers, dancing, religious services, etc.
