Vinayaka Chavithi or Ganesh Chaturthi festival is celebrated on Shukla paksha Chaturthi in Bhadrapad month. Vinayaka Chavithi 2012 date or Ganesh Chaturthi 2012 date is September 19.
It is celebrated for more than 9 days (Ganapati Navaratri). Lord Ganesh is installed on Ganesh Chaturthi day in houses and in streets (Ganpati pandals) and worshipped for 11 days in 2012. Worshipped Ganesh idols are immersed in water on Anant Chaturdashi day.
Ganesh Chaturthi festival is celebrated with utmost fervor in various cities and towns in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka. In Hyderabad, Ganpati festival is celebrated with lot of enthusiasm where the Mammoth Ganesh idol is installed in Khairtabad.
