Ambubachi Mela begins today, 22 June 2012, at Guwahati Kamakhya Devi Temple. It is observed during Ahaar month in traditional Assamese calendar. Amabubachi Mela begins at 06.12 AM on 22 June and ends at 6.36 PM on 26 June 2012.
The beginning of Ambubachi is known as ‘Ambubachi Prabritti’ and the ‘Nibritti’ is the conclusion of the fair.
Goddess Kamakhya Devi temple is the most popular Astadasa Shakti Peetha (18 Shakti Temples). Kamakhya Devi Puja during Ambubachi Mela is highly meritorious observance.
