Karthaveeryarjuna is a character from Hindu Religious History, particularly associated with the epic of Mahabharata and the Puranas. Here’s a story related to Karthaveeryarjuna:

The Story of Karthaveeryarjuna and the Battle with Lord Parashurama

Karthaveeryarjuna, also known as Sahasrarjuna, was a powerful and arrogant king who ruled the Yadava dynasty. He had a thousand arms and was known for his immense strength and valor. Due to his great power, he became prideful and oppressive.

Once, while on a hunting expedition, Karthaveeryarjuna came across the hermitage of Jamadagni, a sage and the father of Lord Parashurama, who was an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The sage’s cow, Kamadhenu, was a divine cow that could grant any wish and was highly treasured by the sage and his family.

Karthaveeryarjuna, filled with desire and arrogance, demanded the cow from Jamadagni. When the sage refused, the king forcibly took the cow. This act of aggression enraged Lord Parashurama, who was away at the time. Upon his return and learning of the injustice done to his father, Parashurama vowed to avenge the wrong done to his family.

Lord Parashurama, a formidable warrior with an axe as his weapon, challenged Karthaveeryarjuna. A fierce battle ensued between the two mighty warriors. In a climactic duel, Parashurama used his divine axe to defeat Karthaveeryarjuna and killed him, thus avenging the wrongdoing against his family and restoring the honor of the sage Jamadagni.

The battle with Lord Parashurama was a turning point in Karthaveeryarjuna’s life and marked the end of his oppressive rule. Parashurama’s act of justice served as a reminder of the consequences of arrogance and abuse of power. The story of Karthaveeryarjuna highlights the importance of dharma (righteousness) and the inevitability of divine justice in Hindu Religious History.
