Vishnudevananda Saraswati

Vishnudevananda Saraswati (1927–1993) was a disciple of Swamy Sivananda Saraswati, and he was the founder of yoga centres and ashrams throughout the world. He also taught yoga and meditation to Indians and foreigners. He wrote lot of books on Yoga and meditation, along with many other spiritual books.

Vishnudevananda was born in Kerala, in the year 1927, and his birth name was Kuttan Nair. At his teenage, he was inspired by the devotional lectures of Sivananda, and he went to Rishikesh and met him, and he was properly welcomed by Sivananda.

Vishnudevananda became a saint at Sivananda Ashram in Rishikesh at his teenage. And he served as the Yoga Guru in the Sivananda Yoga centre. He also done meditation and conducted divine lectures at the Ashram.

Vishnudevananda travelled throughout foreign countries, and spread the spirituality in the minds of foreigners, and also taught yoga and meditation, along with the teachings of Swami Sivananda. He has done various social welfare activities during his life time.

He also met spiritual leaders belonging to other religions casually. He started yoga therapy centres and healed the people who are suffering from prolonged illness. Vishnudevananda died in the year 1993. And as per his wish, his body was immersed in River Ganges.

Though now he is not physically available, his teachings and his dedicated service to the spiritual world cannot be forgotten by the followers of Swamy Sivananda. Let us worship the great person and be blessed.
