6 March 2024 is Vijaya Ekadashi (Kalyana Ekadashi). It falls in Falgun Month as per North Indian Hindi calendars and Magh Month of Amavasyant calendars of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh.

In 2024, Vijaya Ekadashi date is March 6. All Ekadashi such as Smartha Ekadasi, Vaishnav Ekadashi, Bhagvat Ekadashi, Gauna Ekadashi and Madhva Ekadashi is on 6th March.

It falls in Maasi Masam of Tamil calendar, Kumbha Masam of Malayalam calendar and Phalgun Month of Bengali Panjika.

According to the Skanda Purana, one who observes Vijaya Ekadasi attains success with nullifying the sins. The Purana also tells that Lord Sri Ram observed Vijaya Ekadashi and demolished Ravana without any obstacles.

Ekadashi begins at 6.01 AM on 7 March and ends at 8.23 AM on the same day.

Vijaya Ekadashi – Vrat Katha or legend or story, Importance and spiritual significance

The legend or story of Vijaya Ekadasi was narrated to Narada by his father Lord Brahma. Lord Sri ram went to cross the sea with his army (Vanarasena), but was unable to find the means to cross the sea. Informed by Lakshmana, Lord Ram went to a Sage and got the importance to observe Vijaya Ekadashi. Lord Ram was well informed by the Sage about the observance of Vijaya Ekadashi. Lord Rama attained victory after performing. Vijaya Ekadasi rituals with utmost fervor.

There is no specific rules, rituals or customs to observe on Vijaya Ekadasi. They are same as normal Ekadashi, which include fasting. Devotees break their fasting on Dwadashi day after performing Vishnu Puja.
