TTD will be observing Saint Poetess Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba 201st Jayanthi on August 18 and 19 in a befitting manner in Tirumala, Tirupathi and in Tarigonda.
The 18th Century Telugu Poetess hailing from Tarigonda of Chittoor district, penned many great works on Tarigonda Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy and on Sri Venkateswara Swamy of Tirumala. She pioneered Annaprasadam distribution in Tirumala and was fondly called by devotees as “Matrusri”.
In view of her birth anniversary special devotional programmes are arranged in all these three places.
On August 18 there will be religious discourses and devotional songs while on August 19, Sri Lakshmi Narasimha kalyanam will be observed between 6pm and 8pm in Tarigonda.
In Tirupati religious lectures will be organised in Annamacharya Kalamandiram while on August 19, floral tributes will be paid to the statue of Vengamamba at MR Palle Circle.
There will be Pushpanjali programme in Vengamamba Brundavanam by TTD officials in Tirumala on August 19 by 9am.
