The Vasishtha Samhita is a 13th century Vaishnavite text, which includes various concepts of Yoga, significance in chanting the names of the god, donation, doing fire sacrifices and helping others.
Vashishta is one of ancient Vedic rishis. He is also one of the Saptarishis. Vashishta is the main contributor of Rigveda. He is mentioned in Rigvedic texts and also in other Vedic texts.
Some of the contents mentioned in the Vasishtha Samhita are as follows:-
1. Yoga is the great boon given by the god for the benefit of the mankind. People must do Yoga regularly in order to keep their body in a proper condition.
2. Apart from doing Yoga, Meditation also must be practiced for leading a stress free life.
3. Worship the god by chanting his divine names, divine mantras, by the way of performing fire sacrifices, by offering the favourite food items to him and by totally surrendering ourselves at this holy feet.
4. Donate whatever you possess excessively. With your surplus money, you could light lamps on the lives of the poor ones.
5. Brighten yourself by brightening others.
6. Always act generously, honestly and faithfully.
7. Doing service to the mankind is greater than doing service to the god.
8. Believe that with your two arms, you could lift even the entire world.
9. Always act wisely, briskly and smartly.
10. Believe in god, tightly hold him on your soul, and never find fault with him.
11. God knows very well, what to give, when to give and how much to give to you.
12. Always maintain strong bondage with god, and don’t distance yourself from him.
13. In your imagination, try to get the divine vision of the god, and by doing it regularly, one, day, you would get the darshan of the god directly.
14. Don’t worry about your present life, since, everything is already decided by the god, and all of us act just like a play doll in front of him.
