Varahi Navaratri, also popular as Ashada Navaratri and Gupta Navaratri is one of the most celebrated 9-days dedicated to Goddess Shakti. Varahi Devi is one of the Saptamatrikas, the Seven Divine Mothers in Sanatana Dharma. In 2026, Varahi Navaratri begins on July 15 and ends on July 23.
Observed in Ashada Masam of Hindu Calendar (from Ashada Shukla Pratipada to Ashada Shukla Navami), Varahi Navaratri has become more popular in recent times due to the prominence of internet and social media. But as stated in Puranas and other ancient scriptures, Gupta Navaratri is believed to be a more secretive and intense form of Navratri compared to the public celebration of Ashwayuja Devi Sharan Navaratri Utsavams.
In 2026, on July 15, Wednesday, Varahi Navaratri begins with Kalasha Sthapana. Most of the devotees who perform this Navaratri, avoid Kalasha Sthapana, Akhanda Jyothi and other Navaratri aspects and simply offer shodashopachara puja to Devi. According to some pandits, Varahi Pooja or Sadhana is an intense form of worship hence be performed under the guidance of proper pandits or Yogis.
As we know, Varahi Mata has various forms and alankarams. On first day of Navaratri, Swapna Varahi Devi is worshipped and Swapna Varahi Mantram and Swapna Varahi Stotram is chanted.
