Ujjain Mahakal Sawari 2022 in Shravan Month at Ujjain Mahakaleshwar Temple… Lord Mahakal is taken out in a procession on every Monday in Shravan Month upto Bhadrapada Amavasya. In 2022, Ujjain Mahakal Sawari dates are – July 18, July 25, August 1, August 8, August 15 and August 22.
The last Sawari before Bhadrapada Amavasya (22 August) is celebrated with great pomp and show. It draws few lakhs of devotees.
Mahakal Sawari is also performed from Shukla Paksha of Kartik Month to Krishna Paksha of Margashirsha Month.
The procession of Mahakala on Vijaydasami festival visiting the celebrations at Dashahara Maidan is also very attractive.
Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is one of the most famous Shiva Temples and is one of the Dwadasha Jyothirlinga Temples (13 ancient and most sacred temples dedicated to Lord Shiva).
