Ujjain Mahakal Sawari 2025 in Shravan Month at Ujjain Mahakaleshwar Temple… Lord Mahakal is taken out in a procession on every Monday in Shravan Month upto Bhadrapada Amavasya. In 2025, Ujjain Mahakal Sawari dates are – July 14, July 21, July 28 and August 4.
The last Sawari before Bhadrapada Amavasya (2 September) is celebrated with great pomp and show. It draws few lakhs of devotees.
Mahakal Sawari is also performed from Shukla Paksha of Kartik Month to Krishna Paksha of Margashirsha Month.
The procession of Mahakala on Vijaydasami festival visiting the celebrations at Dashahara Maidan is also very attractive.
Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is one of the most famous Shiva Temples and is one of the Dwadasha Jyothirlinga Temples (13 ancient and most sacred temples dedicated to Lord Shiva).
Ujjain Mahakaleshwar Temple is located on the side of the Rudrasagar lake. Mahakaleshwar Shivalingam is believed to be Swayambhu (Self manifested). The consort for Mahakaal is Goddess Mahakali.
