The Kalyana Utsavam (marriage ceremony) of Tirumala Tirupati Sri Balaji with his consorts (Goddess Sridevi and Bhudevi) is scheduled to take place at the Shanmukhananda Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati auditorium, King’s Circle on October 16 and 17.
Lord of seven hills -Venkateshwara, also called Balaji along with his consorts is scheduled to arrive at the venue, on the night of October 15.
Prior to this ceremony on October 16 for the first time in Mumbai there will be ‘Vasantha Utsavam’ (also called spring festival) to be performed at the Sabha where the idols of the Lord and his consorts will be bathed, which is specifically called Snapana Thirumanjanam, with holy waters and sandal paste and then special pujas will be performed.
Generally this ceremony is performed in Tirupati for three days but due to time constraints this is performed for a day here for the benefit of the Mumbai devotees. Over 60 priests and officials from the Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanam (TTD), who runs the temple, will accompany the idols to perform the ‘Srinivasa Kalyanam’.
Usually, devotees are waitlisted for years when the ceremony is performed at Tirupati, says a press release.
