Three Enemies for our development, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa on The Triple Impediment

What are the three enemies for our development? What are the three impediments that stop the growth of our life? What impedes the growth of man in excellence has to be noted and eliminated. This act is as important as weeding out the wild plants.

“Fear, anger and envy are the triple impediment that never allows man rise to eminence.”

Fear eats into one’s personality. One becomes incapable of manly action when one is frightened. Anger poisons one’s system. The man given to anger surrenders his discrimination. Envy gnaws away the potentialities of a person. By envying the others a man degrades himself.
