Suruchi Sangha Durga Puja 2012

Suruchi Sangha Durga Puja is a famous Durga Puja Pandal in New Alipore, Kolkata. Suruchi Sangha has come up with the theme of “Pollution free Ocean” for the year 2012. It has created a tiny slice of Goa with its alluring beaches and amazing marine life. The marquee which is influenced by Goan art and architecture has the message “Save the oceans from pollution”.

Raja Sarkar who is the man behind the idea said “ On entering the pandal one will feel as if one is in Goa. We have tried to blend Bengali and Goan cultures and apprise the people about the threat that pollution poses to oceans and the marine life. The inside walls have been adorned with sculptures and aquatic animals and schools of fish will be there to provide originality to the concept. Also the idols have been sculpted in tune with the essence of the thematic content.”
