Sri Venkateswara Vaibhavotsavams in Visakhapatnam will be celebrated from July 21 to 29 in 2014..
The Dharma Prachara Parishad (DPP) of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) will organise ‘Sri Venkateswara Vaibhavotsavams’ here from July 21 to 29.
A replica of the Tirumala temple will be created at Swarna Bharati Stadium for the purpose.
All the ‘sevas’ such as ‘suprabhatam’, ‘tomala’, ‘koluvu’ and weekly ‘sevas’ such as ‘visesha puja’, ‘sahasra kalasabhishekam’, ‘tiruppavada’ will be offered to the deity from 5.30 a.m. every day for one week from July 23.
In all, 1,200 couples can participate in every seva.
On the first two days, DPP Executive Committee member and noted scholar Chaganti Koteswara Rao will give discourses. His commentary will continue during the seva period too.
TTD Joint Executive Officer Pola Bhaskar told reporters here that ‘vaibhavotsam’ was one of the few programmes being carried out to propagate ‘Sanatana Dharma’ and was first being taken up in Visakhapatnam. It was organised on an experimental basis in Kakinada by Mr. Koteswara Rao and was being scaled up now.
“It will be taken up in all the districts subsequently,” he said.
“The programme has been planned to help devotees take part in the sevas. The ‘agama’ procedure that is followed in Tirumala will be followed here too,” he added.
The procedure for applying directly or online will be announced later. Participation for all the sevas is free. But devotees should come in traditional attire.
A team, comprising DPP Special Officer Raghunath, Superintendent Engineer Ramachandra Reddy, and priest Gururaja, was here to inspect the stadium and make arrangements.
DPP district vice-president Rambabu was present.
