Significance of Shani Jayanti

The day on which Lord Shani dev was born is regarded as Shani Jayanthi. This particular day is locally known as Sani Jayanthi or Shanishchara Jayanti.

According to the Hindu religious scholars and pundits, in Indian astrology, Lord Shani dev is one of the nine planets in the Navagrahas. It is to be remembered that in Hinduism, Navagrahas are the nine celestial deities.

It is to be largely observed that different region of India this particular God is called by different names such as ‘Chaya Putra’, ‘Sanischara bhagwan’, ‘Sani dev’ or ‘Shaneeswaran’. It is to be observed that Lord Shani Dev is the son of Lord Surya and his second wife named Chhaya.

According to the traditional Hindu calendar, Sani Jayanthi or Shani Jayanti is large observed on New moon day or Amavasya in Vaisakha masam or Vaishakh month. This particular day is observed as ‘Shani Amavasya’ by all the devotees. This Jayanthi has spiritual significance and immense impact. On the day of Shani Jayanthi, most of the Shaneeswaran temples, lord shiva temples and those temples that have Navagrahas are line up by Amavasya devotees cross the nation.

It is strongly believed that if a person who has any type of Dosham in personal and professional life then if he or she does prayer with dedication and devotion to Lord Shani dev and the lord gets pleased then the dosham will be largely reduced. If a person do shani related rituals then the devotee’s financial problems, marital discord, poor health, strained relationship, problems from enemies all get solved.
