Shani Ashtami, or Sani Astami, is observed on Ashtami day which falls on Shanivar or Saturday in a Hindu month. Here are Shani Ashtami 2012 dates. In 2012, Sani Astami comes four times. It may fall either in Shukla Paksha or Krishna Paksha or in both. Shani Ashtami vrat is dedicated to Lord Shani who is known as the crucial celestial Lord in Hinduism and Hindu Astrology.

Devotees observe Shani Puja, Shani Japam, Shani Shanti homam, or Shani Thailabhishekam on Shani Ashtami to please Lord Sani. It is also auspicious to perform Durga Puja or Bhavani Puja, Shiva Puja, Hanuman Puja, and Venkateshwara Puja or Balaji Puja.

  1. March 31, 2012 – Chaitra Shukla Ashtami (Durga Ashtami during Chaitra Navratri)
  2. May 12, 2012 – Krishna Paksha Ashtami in Vaishakh month as per Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati & Marathi calendars. Jyeshta Krishna Ashtami in North Indian Hindi calendars.
  3. August 25, 2012 – Adhik Bhadrapad Shukla Ashtami
  4. September 8, 2012 – Bhadrapad Krishna Ashtami in North Indian calendars & Adhik Bhadrapad Krishna Ashtami in Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada & Telugu calendars.

    hindu vrat & festivals have their own importance but we people are so busy in day-today works that we have near about forgotten all occasion , I have recently visited a good pages where i have seen complete list of Festivals & vrats, surprisingly we are having bunch of vrat & i am doing none of them , the list is highly informative.
