Likewise, the powers of the god cannot be seen in a physical form through our naked eyes. It is possible to see the god directly, only if we keep constant bhakti on the almighty. Hence, instead of making unnecessary research works about the existence of the god, let us worship our divine mother, Ma Kali Devi, sincerely, faithfully and hopefully, and let us be blessed.
Bannari Amman temple is one of the famous Amman temples in Tamil Nadu, and it is situated near Sathyamangalam, Erode district. The Chief deity of this temple is Ma Maha Mariamman, rain goddess, who is mostly worshipped by the people in Tamil Nadu, and there are lot of small and big temples of Mariamman situated throughout Tamil Nadu.
Once at the present place of the temple, a particular cow released the milk from its udder near a Vengai tree and it used to stand near it. At that time, the face of the cow looked like the present day deity of Ma Bannariamman.
Soon this good news reached the villagers. And to the surprise of everyone, the cow repeated the same task of releasing its milk nearby the holy Tree. When people went inside the forest, and when they reached nearby the spot of the cow, they found a Swayambu Lingam near it. Then with joyful tears everyone began to pray to the Lingam with folded hands. Then they heard a divine voice from the sky, and it said to them, to construct a temple for Maha Mariamman nearby the Lingam, and it also asked them to give the name for the deity as Sri Bannari Mariamman. Thus Ma Bannari Mariamman began to settle down permanently at the present place of the temple.
The history of the temple is inscribed in the form of paintings on the temple wall. Every Sunday, Monday, Friday and on new moon days, we can find lot of devotees at this temple, in order to offer their whole heartedly prayers to Ma Bannari Mariamman.
Kundam Festival is grandly celebrated in the Tamil Month of Panguni (March – April). This is the most famous annual festival, wherein lakhs of devotees from various parts of Tamil Nadu would visit this Maha Mariamman Temple.
The temple is kept open to the public from 5.30 a.m. to 9.00 p.m.
Women devotees used to participate in the Thiruvilakku Pooja, which is being done for the well-being of their consorts on the last Friday of every Tamil month.
