Sri Sadayappar temple is situated in the small village named Tiruchennampoondi, in the district of Tirunelveli, in the state of Tamil Nadu in Southern India. The primary deity of this temple is Thirukadaiyudaya mahadevar (Lord Shiva) and his consort is none.
The holy tree of this temple is Vilwa. The holy water of this temple is Bhramma theertham. The agamam or pooja of this temple is called as Sivagamam. This temple is just 1000-2000 years old in this region. The historical name of this particular place is Tiruchennampoondi.
The festivals that are grandly celebrated in this temple are in the month of Chithirai (April-May) transit day of planet Jupiter from one zodiac sign to the next with special pujas, Panguni Uthiram in March-April, Poornima day (Full moon day), Thai poosam in January-February, New Year days and Pongal, Deepavalli, Car festival for Lord Dakshinamurthy. These festivals and important religious days are marked with special pujas and rituals at this shrine. In this temple, Lord Shiva is a swayambumurthy. The temple is open for pilgrims and devotees from 6.00 a.m. to 12.00 a.m. and from 4.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.

It is the most visited Lord Shiva temple in this district on all special occasion and events by the devotees and pilgrims. Special pujas and rituals are conducted on the eve of Shivarathri at this shrine. The artistic and craft skills are the wonder of this particular shrine.
