15 August 2014 is Randhan Chhath in Gujarat. Randhan Chhath is observed on a day prior to Sheetala Satam Vrat in Shravan month as per Gujarati calendar. It is not a vrat to observe but the preparation day for Sheetala Satam Vrat Puja.
Randhan Chhath falls on Vad Sashti or the sixth day in Vad Paksh or bahula paksh in Shravan month.
On this day food for Sheetala Satam festival is prepared. Cooking food on Sheetala Satam is avoided because cold meals are taken on this day. Devotees believe that Goddess Sheetala Devi visits kitchen and curses if food is cooked on Satam day.
In 2014, Randhan Chath date in USA, Canada, UK, Europe, UAE, Gulf countries, Singapore, and Malaysia is August 15. In Australia and New Zealand it is on August 16.
