Radha Saptami, popularly known as Ratha Saptami, is the festival to celebrate Surya Jayanti. On Radha Saptami, performing ceremonial bath in holy rivers like Ganga, Godavari, Yamuna, Narmada, Cauvery, Krishna, etc. is considered as auspicious.
While ritual bath on Ratha Saptami, devotees recite the mantra given below: –
Ratha Saptami Snan Mantram:
Yadhaa janma krutham paapam maaya janmasu janmasu
Thanme rogancha shokancha maakarihanthu saptamee
Etha janmakrutham paapam yachcha janmanthararjitham
Manovaakka yajam yachcha gnatha gnalechayepunah
Ratha Saptami Snan is considered auspicious in Magh Mela and Kumbh Mela snan. Surya namaskar and Surya Argh are also auspicious.
After the ritual bath, devotees give arghya to surya bhagwan on Radha Saptami. Surya Bhagwan is worshipped with Ashtottara and shodashopachar puja and offered jaggary.
