Purusaivari Tototsavam in Tirupati Temple – 17 August 2018

Purusaivari Tototsavam has been observed with religious fervour on Friday evening in Tirumala, 17 August 2018. This unique religious fete is associated to Sri Anantazhwan, an ardent devotee of Lord Venkateswara who attained salvation.

After Sahasra Deepalankara Seva, the processional deities of Sri Malayappa Swamy accompanied by His two Consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi were taken to Sri Purusaivari Tota. Astanam was performed to the processional deities. Later, the special garlands of Lord Malayappa were decorated to Pogada tree(Styphonolobium japanicum) which is believed to be representing Sri Anantazhwan.

Sri Anantazhwan (1053 AD) dedicated his 102 years in the service of Sri Venkateswara Swamy through Pushpa kainkaryam. To mark the contributions of this great Sri Vaishnava Saint, Purusaivari Tototsavam is being performed by TTD every year in Tirumala. TTD officials took part in this fete.

On this day, the processional deities of Sri Malayappa Swamy accompanied by his two Consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi will be taken to Sri Purusaivari Tota. Sri Anantazhwan (1053 AD) dedicated his102 years in the service of Sri Venkateswara through Pushpa kainkaryam.

To mark the contributions of this great Sri Vaishnava Saint, Purusaivari Tototsavam is performed every year in Tirumala. After reaching Vrindavan of Sri Anantazhwan, Astanam was performed to the processional deities. Later, the special garlands of Lord Malayappa were decorated to Pogada tree(Styphonolobium japanicum) representing Sri Anantazhwan.
