Among the 60,000 ganesh pandals in Hyderabad, there are very few popular ganapathi mandals. Ganapathi Navaratri utsavams starts on Vinayaka Chavithi (Ganesh Chaturthi) and ends on Anantha Chaturdashi day with Ganesh nimajjanam (immersion). Khairatabad Ganesh Utsava Samithi is celebrating 57^th year of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in 2011. This is the most popular Ganesh mandal in Hyderabad and it also appears on the list of most famous Ganesh pandals in the world. Theme of Khairatabad Ganesh for this year is 53-foot ‘Garuda Vahana Vishnurupa Ganapathi’ with the replicas of Thiruvananthapuram Anantha Padmanabhaswamy Temple and Vemulawada Raja rajeshwara swamy temple in either side of the mammoth idol.
