Onam is one of the major festivals celebrated with ritualistic fervor in Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple. Onam 2013 date is September 16.
Sabarimala Ayyappa temple will be opened on September 14 for Onam puja rituals and closed on 18 September 2013. Travancore Devaswom Board has been watching arrangements for the celebrations of Onam in Sabarimala. Onam puja is one of the festivals held in September 2013 in Sabarimala temple.
The Chief Priest (Melshanti) will open the sanctum sanctorum on 14th September evening at 5.30 PM. Onamsadya (Onam feast) is offered to Lord Ayyappa on 16th September afternoon. Devotees also will get feast on that day in the temple.
The ‘Sahasrakalasa’ (holy bath to Lord Ayyappa with thousand pots of water) will be offered on Thiruvonam day i.e. September 16, 2013. On the same day, Udayasthamana Puja and Padi puja also would be performed. Nearly 5 lakh devotees may participate in Onam puja 2013 at Sabarimala Ayyappa temple.
