It is well-known that Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya consecrated Goddess Sharada at Sringeri while establishing the Dakshinamnaya Peetham and towards the end of His Digvijaya Yatra, ascended the Sarvajna Peetham of Goddess Sharada at Kashmir.
Goddess Sharada has been revered in Kashmir since time immemorial and is referred to by the epithet, “Kaashmira-pura-vaasini”.
On February 3, 2022, Sri Ravinder Pandita of Sharada Yatra ( Sarvajna Peeth) Temple Committee, Kashmir had Darshan of Sringeri Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam and Jagadguru Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam, and received blessings for the construction of a new Goddess Sharada temple at the town of Teetwal near the LoC in Kashmir. Teetwal on the banks of the Kishanganga river was traditionally one of the places from which the annual Yatra to the Sarvajna Peetham of Goddess Sharadamba in Kashmir would commence.
While having the Darshan of the Sringeri Jagadgurus, Sri Ravinder Pandita made a Samarpanam of two stones and holy sand from the ancient structure of the Sarvajna Peetham in Kashmir. Jagadguru Sri Mahasannidhanam blessed him with one of the stones and showered His benign blessings on the Committee for the construction of the new Sharada temple at Teetwal.
Sringeri Math CEO, Sri VR Gowrishankar conveyed that the Sringeri Math will offer full support to the noble initiative of the temple construction at Teetwal and offer a new Panchaloha Vigraha of Goddess Sharada for the installation.
