After annual brahmotsavams, this fete is usually observed in all Vaikhanasa Agama temples of TTD as a “Sin- free festival” for the commissions and omissions performed by the religious staff or temple staff or devotees either knowingly or unknowingly during the nine day fete.
It is also performed to protect Mother Nature from all ill happenings including floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions etc.and appease the presiding deities by offering tonnes of varieties of flowers.
Nagalapuram Veda Narayanaswami Temple
Nagalapuram Sri Veda Narayanaswami temple is a temple dedicated to the fish incarnation or Matsya avatar of Lord Vishnu. Nagalapuram temple is located approximately at a distance of 70 km to Tirupati in Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh.
The legend says Lord Matsya killed the demon Somaka or Somakudu here to retrieve the Vedas from him. Lord Vishnu is consecrated in Veda Narayana swamy temple with his divine consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi.
